What is Lab Management?

The Lab Management application is a collaborative effort between The Office of Research, Innovation and Economic Development (ORIED), Office of Information Technology (OIT) and Core Facilities to create a comprehensive Lab Management system that will automate billings, enhance equipment scheduling, enforce training and add many additional efficiencies to the laboratories.

How do I sign in to Lab Management as an NC State User?

  1. Go to labs.ncsu.edu (or go.ncsu.edu/labs) and locate the login area.
  2. Select the red UNITY ID LOGIN button.
  3. You will be taken to Shibboleth where you will enter your Unity ID and Password. If you have recently logged in through Shibboleth this may process automatically.
  4. You will then be brought to your Lab Management landing page.

How was Lab Management built?

The Lab Management application is a collaborative effort between The Office of Research, Innovation and Economic Development (ORIED), Office of Information Technology (OIT) and four service centers to create a comprehensive Lab Management system that will automate billings, enhance equipment scheduling, enforce training and add many additional efficiencies to the laboratories.

The Lab Management application was built using the Mendix application platform.  The Mendix cloud application platform allowed NC State to build and deliver the cloud-based Lab Management application to the exact needs of both the University and Lab Managers.
